Component 2
Component 2 is all about developing your skills. We will develop our designing and editing skills using Photoshop and experiment with different outcomes. We will also use cameras to take photographs for editing and add to your designs. The final work for assessment will be produced in a 10 hour window, this will happen in normal lessons.

Lessons 7 and 8 Tuesday 17th September
This lesson you will need to complete a few tasks based on your idea for creating a magazine double-page spread and a front cover based on the theme of Inclusion.
Open the PPT you have been working on and add the following slides with these titles:

Initial ideas -
You need to add information about your initial ideas. This will be a very general page where you need to explain what area of your spider diagram you will focus on. For example: "I am going to focus on how my school celebrates different cultures through the cultural day we have each year"
You can then add more secondary research about your idea (images and information for different websites (school website for the cultural day etc, or the Paralympics website)

Photoshop experiments -
You need to show how you have experimented with what your magazine might look like. Open two Photoshop files (A3 landscape and A4 Portrait. This will be your front cover (A4) and the double-page spread (A3 Landscape)
You will need to think about the following for your magazine:

The name of your magazine.

What is the colour scheme?
-
What will your double-page article be about?
-
What photographs you will take?
You will need to make a few extra PPT slides where you can start adding notes for the bullet points above.

TASK - The Basics of Photoshop (LA A - Developing Skills)
Your task is to understand the basics of photoshop.
Open a new explorer window and find your documents.
Create a new folder called "Media C2" This is where you will save all of your work, especially PDS - Photoshop files.
CLICK HERE to take you to a shared folder. Download the two files and save them in your new Media C2 folder.
Go to the windows icon bottom left and look for Adobe Photoshop, click on the 64GB one and the application will open.

Photoshop Workshop - Editing Photographs (LA A - Developing Skills)
This task is all about how to use photoshop to edit existing photographs.
You will use the following tools and skills:

Importing other images.

Changing the nature of individual layers (multiply and overlay)

Adjusting the Hue and Saturation (Image/adjustments/Hue and Saturation)
-
Adding Layer Masks (using the brush tool with black or white to remove or add)

Once you have completed your edited image you need to produce a step-by-step guide to show how you have Make sure you write about the skills you have learnt whilst editing the image. Include screen shots of the image as it progresses, including screen shots of your layers box.
Photoshop Template - Harry Potter (LA A - Developing Skills)
